Letter from the President - 2011
Dear Casunik members and friends,
I would like to inform you that my third year of office as President
of the Society is coming to an end. The Annual General Meeting for election
of a new Executive Committee will be held on Saturday 24th September from
2pm at Amaravati Monastery after the Pchum Ben Ceremony.
I am delighted to enclose a report of the main activities so far from
September 2010 - August 2011:
- Saturday 11th December 2010: Xmas Pty (Children Party) at the VLC
Community Centre, Hackney
- Saturday 16th April 2011: Chaul Chhnam (Khmer New Year) Celebration
at the VLC Community Centre, Hackney
- 28th May 2011: (International) Vesak Celebration at Chithurst Monastery,
Nr. Petersfield
- Saturday 4th June 2011: Khmer Photo Art Exhibition at the VLC Community
Centre, Hackney
- Sunday 19th June 2011: International Bonn Phka Samaki fund raising
event for Chithurst Monastery, Nr. Petersfield
- Saturday 2nd July 2011: Community Day Trip to Calais/France
Future events:
- Saturday 24th September 2011: Pchum Ben Ceremony will be held at
Amaravati Monastery, Nr. Hemel Hempstead.
- Sunday 30th October 2011: Kathina International will be held at Chithurst
Monastery, Nr. Petersfield.
I very much appreciate the generous unstinting supports from:
- The executive committee members, The community members
- The Seniors members, and Religious Team
- The VLC executive committee members
- The Royal Embassy of Cambodia and all staff members
- The Students Association and all team members.
- The Music/DJ entertainment and singers team.
- The traditional /Popular Dancing team
- The Stage Decoration Team
- The food Catering team, all helpers and friends of the community.
To ensure availability of future venue, I have also made a provisional
advance booking at the VLC Centre ahead of the election of the new Executive
Committee:
- The Xmas Party: 10th December 2011
- The Khmer New Year (Chaul Chhnam): 14th April 2012.
I would like to express my gratitude to you all for another successful
year. Your continued support and help to our community are in line with
the common aim of the Society, striving to work for the benefit of all
Cambodians in the UK thereby ensuring a positive image of Cambodia internationally.
